Immersive Audio Album has released a hi-res Dolby Atmos spatial mix of Refestramus’s Morri’s Rock Boutique, published as part of the outlet’s Originals series. The release includes six audio formats at 48kHz/24-bit resolution — Atmos, 5.1 surround, binaural, and stereo among them.
Writing for the piece, Jonathan Cornell called Refestramus “The Punks of Prog for their refusal to fit neatly into any single subgenre,” and singled out Morri’s Rock Boutique as “a perfect candidate for spatial audio because it’s simply too ambitious and grandiose for a traditional two-speaker soundstage to contain.” The mix keeps drums, bass, lead vocals and rhythm guitars anchored up front while spreading layered harmonies, keyboards, strings and percussion into the surround and height channels.
